Review of Björkliden/ svensk ovan

This is our review that will be completed with our index list and ski value rate attached to the menu.
Bjorkliden offers a fabulous environment with its great mountains up north in Sweden, above the arctic polar circle in Laponia. Greatest and nearest town is Kiruna.
The resort have 23 slopes and the longest are 3300 meters.
Highest vertical drop 530 meters and 5 lifts, no gondolas or chair lifts, just t bars. The easiest way to get here is by plane or night train, it’s located 1500 km from Stockholm. Open between February to mid May.

The accommodation:
We stayed at the Fjällhotellet with half board.
Staff was nice and caring, the facility enjoyable with it’s great views over the mountains. Our double room was on the small side, but very comfortable also with view against the great gate of Laponia!
Great breakfast and the dishes during dinner kept a high level of performance, specially the a la carte. Among problems that we discovered we can highlite bad management among the serving staff that resulted in missing our order, bringing the wine at the same time as food and once forgetting our table reservation. Our conclusion is that leadership can be better! Do they even have a head waiter?
Never the less most happy with our staying there.

The skiing
Ski in – ski out position
Very nice skiing with almost central europe snow. Big variation between the slopes and also a lot areas for free skiiers and heliski available . Fun park for the boarders and a children area with a gently skiing slope for the kids with less experience of skiing. The slopes was nice and it felt like there were designed for great carves. Our favorit slope was Karven (The Carve) and we also tested Rallarsvängen a black slope among all the slopes ho was tested. Available slopes: Black, red, blue.

Nightlife at hotel Fjället/ Rallarbaren
The nightlife really starts in the afternoon with a great afterski performance that was crowded and well attend. Nice cover music and a good interaction with the crowd. This was really fun and entertainment on the highest level. Later on we attended the nightclub. Not so much to say about it. We missed a live DJ was our main impression. Otherwise the dance floor had a lot of space and the light settings were well planned.
